Water Bath Canning (Aug. 1)

Food preservation is essential if you are an avid gardener – and canning food is one of the easiest ways to quickly preserve the harvest. Stop relying on overpriced store-bought food and fill your pantry with the freshness and flavors of your own Summer garden.
Join us Saturday, August 1 (5-7pm) for the new monthly ‘Family Homesteading’ potluck and skillshare hosted by Deeanne and Jamie Curtis at Hummingbird Acres in northern Bedford County (near Gross Orchard). This month we’ll be focused on the basics of water bath canning, including:
* Best Practices
* Equipment & Method
* Preparing Foods for Canning
* Demonstration & Show-and-Tell
* Difference between Water Bath and Pressure Canning
If you are interested in learning canning, want a refresher, or just want to live a more resilient lifestyle, don’t miss this skillshare.

This monthly Land & Table group is open to the public and is family friendly*. Please RSVP to let us know you are coming.
*A parent is required to attend children throughout the event. Child-care is not provided.

PLEASE NOTE: Once you are on Meadors Mill Rd. follow the road until you see a red ‘PRIVATE ROAD’ and ‘END STATE MAINTENANCE’ signs; keep driving! Keep following the road and turn right at the power pole where the road dead ends into a private driveway. You’re almost there, but not yet! Continue following the road until you see the ‘Hummingbird Acres’ sign. Continue on the driveway. Watch for signs for where to park.
