CELEBRATING LOCAL: FOOD, MUSIC, COMMUNITY
It’s harvest time! Join us Saturday, November 7 (12-4pm) for Local Love 2026, our third annual fall fundraiser for Land & Table at Mountain Run Farm, featuring a pig roast, potluck, raffle, stomping-good bluegrass concert with the band New Standard, and more. Local Love is a celebration of local farms, local food, local music, local community, and the soil beneath our feet. Enjoy mountain views, delicious food, incredible music, and more – all for a great cause!
Proceeds go to our work in advancing ecological agriculture, advocating for small family farms, empowering food secure families, and catalyzing a strong local food system in the Lynchburg, VA region. Help us fund projects like our:
- Local Food Lynchburg (regional food guide)
- Community Seed Library
- Ongoing Learning and Networking Events
Our goal for this year’s fundraiser is $3500. Join us!

Land & Table is a small, volunteer run 501(c)3 non-profit. Proceeds from our Fall Fundraiser go towards supporting:
- Our work of catalyzing a local food system in the Lynchburg, VA region.
- Projects like: our regional food guide Local Food Lynchburg, Free Seed Library, and more.
- Our advocacy for small family farms to regional leaders.
- Educational and networking events.
Our goal for this year’s fundraiser is $3500. Will you help meet this financial goal?

- A side dish or dessert to share
- A lawn chair for the concert
- Friends and family
- Dress for the weather (this is an outdoor event)
The Land & Table Fall Fundraiser is at Mountain Run Farm‘s Camp Sedalia in northern Bedford County. With breathtaking mountain views and plenty of room to run around it is a family friendly environment for getting immersed in nature and community.

MORE ABOUT MOUNTAIN RUN FARM
Mountain Run Farm is a picturesque family farm owned by Ben and Carly Coleman and the extended Coleman family. Raising grassfed beef and pastured meats since 2001, Ben and Carly have been pioneers in local direct-to-consumer sales for decades and have been integral leaders in the local food movement in the Bedford / Lynchburg, Virginia region. Their vision for healthy soils, healthy grasses, healthy animals, healthy meats, and healthy people, has been and continues to be, an inspiration to many.
Tentative schedule:
11:30 – 12:00: Arrive at Mountain Run Farm
12:15: Welcome + Pig Pickin’ + Potluck
1:00: Pony cart rides ($5), etc
1:30/2:00: Year End Thank You’s + brief Wendell Berry Tribute + Raffle! ($10 a ticket, cash only)
2:30: Live bluegrass concert with New Standard
4:00: Concert wraps up.
This is a ticketed event but in the spirit of community we invite you to bring something to the table! We will provide a whole locally raised roast pig (from Brooklyn Hills Ranch) and farm raised meats (from Mountain Run Farm), you bring a side dish or dessert to share. Don’t know what to bring? Consider visiting your local farmers market and bring something local 🙂
Don’t want to contribute to the potluck? Come anyway!
Here are some other pointers:
– This time we will provide dishware.
– Keep it on the healthy side. No junk food.
– Keep it yummy 😉
– You can make your food…or buy it.
– Your side dish does not have to be made with locally sourced ingredients but we encourage it.
– Include a small paper or index card with your dish explaining key ingredients – especially if the food you bring includes allergens like nuts, red meats, gluten, dairy, etc.
(If you forget, don’t worry! We have index cards you can use)
– Come to make friends! Don’t assume everyone knows each one. This is a community potluck designed to facilitate networking and relationship building.
– Scared to come alone? Bring a friend! Not scared? Bring a friend anyway!
– Do not bring your dog unless it is a service animal.
– Please no alchohol.
– This is a family friendly event! Younger kids must be attended by an adult during the event.
– No membership to Land & Table is required (we currently don’t offer a membership)
– Potluck food is not coordinated. Bring what you will.
– Eating will start around 12:15pm.

Q: Is this a family friendly event?
A: Yes, bring the whole family! Kids will have plenty of room to run around and play.
Q: What should I bring to the potluck?
A: Something that pares well with roasted pork and other farm meats. We’ll leave it up to you. But a side dish or dessert is welcome. Make it yummy and healthy 🙂
Q: Can I bring my dog?
A: No dogs please. Exceptions can be made ahead of time for service dogs.
Q: Will there be a bathroom?
A: Yes, a porta-john will be available.
Q: Do I need to be a Land & Table member to attend?
A: No, this event is open to the community but is private, meaning that you must register to attend. It is a ticketed event.
Q: What happens if it rains?
A: This is an outdoor event and is rain or shine. If there is non-threatening but rainy weather we will seek shelter and party on!
$10 a raffle ticket (cash only). To enter raffle you must attend the event. Multiple winners will be chosen. Total prizes equal to over $600.

Pig Pickin' & Potluck
This is our third year in a row coming together at harvest time. We will roast and smoke a whole pig (raised by Brooklyn Hills Ranch in Amherst County). Pastured meats will also be on the menu from Mountain Run Farm (event host and sponsor). We’ll also have a potluck so feel free to bring a side dish or dessert to share. New Standard bluegrass concert
New Standard is a traditional and hard driving bluegrass band from central and western Virginia. Entertaining audiences in many towns across the mountains and Piedmont of Virginia, New Standard is known for their musical excellence and toe-tapping energy.
Wendell Berry Tribute
Poet, author, farmer, and agrarian visionary Wendell Berry is considered by many as the grandfather of the local food movement. His life and writings have had a profound influence on many of us and we want to honor his legacy in memory of his recent passing.
Pony Cart Rides
Enjoy a pony cart ride and help support Land & Table. Each ride is a $5 fee (additional to entry fee).
Bonfire
Weather permitting (if winds stay normal) we will have a bonfire going throughout the fundraiser. Enjoy time around the fire enjoying the mountain views and color changes of the Autmn leaves.
