Farm As Eco-System (6/16/26)

June 16 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Free
Farm as eco-system at Great Day Gardens

Fostering soil, wildlife and ecosystem health is at the core of Great Day Garden‘s mission as a farm. With a focus on growing healthy produce and flowers for the Lynchburg area community, this woman owned and operated farm is a model of human-scale ecological farming for the future.

Join us for a Land & Table potluck and farm tour at Great Day Gardens in Forest, Virginia, Tuesday, June 16 (6-8pm) as we explore the various layers of Great Day Gardens ecological approach to farming with owner / farmer Arden Jones. We’ll examine their holistic approach:

  • Reducing tillage.
  • Creating pollinator habitat.
  • Natural pest management.
  • NO to GMOs, synthetic pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and artificial fertilizers.
  • We source biological soil amendments.
  • Making compost, plant cover crops, and applying copious amounts of straw and wood mulch.

This monthly learning group is open to the public and is family friendly*.

*A parent is required to attend children throughout the event. Child-care is not provided.

  • A healthy dish to share (it’s a potluck!).
  • Your own dishware.
  • Your own drink.
  • Lawn chair.
  • A friend (of course)!
  • Your family 🙂

More About Great Day Gardens

Great Day Gardens has been growing fresh, healthy, chemical free produce since 2015. We are not certified organic, but we do adhere to those standards, and go beyond to take care of our soil and farm ecosystem. We are an all-female crew, led by owner Arden Jones and we take pride in the quality of the produce we provide to the community through our CSA program and local Farmers Markets in Lynchburg and Forest.

Great Day Gardens is also one of the founding farms of Local Food Lynchburg, the Land & Table resource for eating local and seasonal in the Lynchburg, Virginia region. See their profile: here
