Family Homesteading: Raised Bed Gardening (6/6/26)

Are you and your family on a homesteading journey, eager to learn the foundational skills you need to live a more healthy and self-reliant life? Our new ‘Family Homesteading’ learning group lead by Deeanne and Jamie Curtis of Hummingbird Acres may be the perfect fit for you. Gain confidence in the garden and kitchen so that you and your family can feed yourselfs with truly nutrient dense foods that you grow and make yourself.
Join us Saturday, June 6 (4-6pm) for a potluck and skillshare at Hummingbird Acres in Sedalia. We’ll be learning how to start a raised bed garden the right way, as we examine best practices and pitfalls to avoid. While this will be a foundational look at raised bed gardening, it will also be insightful for anyone who has been doing it awhile but is looking to improve their growing methods.
Come back next month for a new topic focused on family homesteading: ‘Beginner Food Preservation: Dehydrating Basics‘
More About Hummingbird Acres
This monthly Land & Table learning group is lead by Deeanne and Jamie Curtis. They are the heart behind Hummingbird Acres, where family, faith, and a simpler way of life come first. Their journey into homesteading began unexpectedly with a battle against poison ivy and a late-night Google search, but quickly grew into a passion they now share with their four children. After a challenging season in 2020, they chose to step away from stress and rediscover joy through sustainable living, learning together as a family every step of the way. Today, Hummingbird Acres is a space where they share their experiences, lessons, and encouragement for others seeking a more grounded, family-centered lifestyle.
This monthly learning group is currently open to the public and is family friendly*. Check it out to see if you are interested in being a part each month. We just ask that you RSVP.
*A parent is required to attend children throughout the event. Child-care is not provided.
