We are stewards of not just our cultivated fields and gardens, but of the wild ecology that intersects with our pastures and surrounding land. Native grassland birds, like sparrows, finches, swallows, quail and others, are part of this essential ecology, but their numbers are on the decline. What role do these birds play on our farms and homesteads, how serious is their disappearance, and how can we provide sanctuary for these important birds, before it’s too late? Join us on Saturday, August 16 (5-7pm) for the monthly Amherst Land & Table community potluck and skillshare at Brooklyn Hills Ranch; hosted by Fred and Amber Lyssy. Come ready for networking, conversation, learning, and community building.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a Land & Table member to attend?
No, you do not need to be a member, but your financial support helps us continue to organize these monthly events.
(Q) Are your events kid friendly?
(A) Yes, many families attend our events. Kids are welcome if they are accompanied by an adult throughout the event. But keep in mind there is no childcare and we do not currently offer kids programming.
(Q) Can I bring my dog?
A) No. We love dogs but they need to stay home.
(Q) What kind of food should I bring?
(A) Our potlucks are very informal, but here are a few principles to take to heart: Bring enough for others, make it yummy, make it healthy. Homemade is best. Store bought is fine. Local ingredients are awesome, but not required. Coming straight from work or school and don't have food to bring? Come anyway!
(Q) Are Land & Table events free and open to the public?

(A) Our monthly potlucks are free and open to the public but if you value what we do, we ask that you consider making a donation on our website or when you come. This helps us with admin, management, event organizing costs, and advancing our mission to create a thriving local foodshed.
