Celebrating local foods: a fundraiser for the Bower Center of the Arts[/caption] Save the date for our next Land and Table community potluck on Saturday, September 13th. Details for our monthly gathering are coming up (sooner than last month’s details which were really late – I promise!). In the meantime though – we wanted to share with you an event that will be coming up the day after our September monthly gathering. On Sunday, September 14, Land and Table (among other sponsors like Town Kitchen and Provisions, Millstone Tea Room Restaurant, Benjamin’s Restaurant, Fishers Restaurant, and the Bedford Social Club) will be sponsoring a fundraising event, Bedford’s Finest Fare, for the Bower Center for the Arts (which is an incredible non-profit serving the local community). You won’t want to miss this unique event highlighting the culinary arts of local chefs as they prepare some of the local meats and produce of several of the farms in the Land and Table network and other local independent farmers. Here are the details from the Bower Center website:

BEDFORD’s FINEST FARE Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 14th from 4:00 – 8:00 and come enjoy a wonderful evening of great food, beverages, and entertainment in The Wharton Garden. Bedford’s Finest Fare will celebrate Bedford’s vibrant local foods and beverages. Local chefs will offer a sampling of mouth-watering gourmet appetizers, entrees, and desserts featuring locally-grown and raised meats, fish and produce from throughout Bedford County and several regional producers. This delicious menu includes Chipotle Smoked Summer Sausage, Smoked Trout Dip with Crudites and Crostinis, Rezzonico Lamb, Asian Salad, plus tempting desserts. An array of beverages will include beer from Apocalypse Ale Works and local wines. In addition to tasting this sumptuous fare, you can also visit local producers of food, beer and wine at their display tables. Finally, the Harbor Band will entertain you with their eclectic mix of Indie-Alt-Rock music. Tickets will be available, in advance, at the Bower Center for the Arts or online at Lynchburg Tickets for $30.00, or $35.00 at the gate. Tickets for children 12 years of age and under are $15.00; children five years of age and under are free. We can’t wait to see you Bower Center’s first Bedford’s Finest Fare for an evening of fantastic food, music, and fun with family, friends and neighbors. All proceeds will benefit Bower Center for the Arts. For more information, please call the Bower Center at 540-586-4235 or visit Bower Center’s Facebook page.”
