Celebrate Local Food & Community!

Join us Saturday, October 18 (4-8pm) for our second annual Fall fundraiser at Mountain Run Farm, featuring live concert with Paddy Dougherty and Local Food Lynchburg, food guide launch. This year’s theme is Local Love! Let’s celebrate the common ground beneath our feet and the farmers, producers, and food artisans who work hard to feed our community.

All proceeds go to support the development of our food guide, Local Food Lynchburg, and our work in transforming the future of local food and agriculture in our area. Our goal for this year’s fundraiser is $5,000. Will you lend a hand?

Event Info:

Register today! Choose your donation – according to your means. Families just need one ticket. Coming just for the concert? Please register below. Walk-ins will be cash donation only (of any amount). Can’t see the registration form? Register: here.

This event will be a little different from our normal monthly potlucks. We will provide a whole roast pig (raised by Restoration Acres on Mountain Run Farm), you bring a side to share.

Don’t want to prepare a side dish? Just bring some nice bread and real butter 🙂

Here are some other pointers:

– This time we will provide dishware.

– Keep it healthy. No fast food. No Twinkies.
– Keep it yummy. What good is food that is healthy but tastes bad?
– You can make your food…or buy it.
– Include a small paper or index card with your dish explaining key ingredients – especially if the food you bring includes allergens like nuts, meats, gluten, dairy, etc.
(If you forget, don’t worry! We have index cards you can use)

– Come to make friends! This event will be a mix of regular attendees and first-timers. Don’t assume everyone knows each one. This is a community potluck designed to facilitate networking and relationship building.

– Scared to come alone? Bring a friend! Not scared? Bring a friend anyway!

– Do not bring your dog.

– Do not bring alcohol to share in the potluck.

– These are family friendly events! Kids are welcome. Younger kids must be attended by an adult during the event.

– You do not have to be a member to attend one of our meetings. You become a member by coming on a regular basis 😉

– Potluck food is not coordinated. Bring what you will.

– Eating will start around 4:30pm at this meeting.

– Still have questions? Use our contact form to ask any questions.

This is a ‘donate what you want’ event. Register online to donate $10, $20, $50, $100, or more. Give according to your means and help us shape the future of local food in the Lynchburg region.

Local Food Lynchburg will cover Lynchburg and surrounding counties, including: Bedford, Campbell, Appomattox, and Amherst. Right now our road map looks like this: Phase One will be the launch of the website. Phase Two will be the launch of a related app. Phase Three will include a supplemental print publication. Additional phases will include media-based storytelling and podcasting to promote the farms, food producers, and food artisans in our area.

Come join us! And if you are a local farmer or food artisan get listed in the food guide!
