This meeting will be a ‘friendsgiving’ style potluck open to the public and is a great chance to meet and fellowship with others who are passionate about local food, ecological agriculture, natural health, agrarian living, and returning to a life rooted in the land. Bring a Thanksgiving or Fall themed dish to share – and if you have the gumption bring a special dessert.

We will also have a time of sharing where we will acknowledge the gifts that have come into our life this year. If you’d like to, please come ready to briefly share on what you are thankful for this year as we approach the end of 2025.

Back in November 2011 a few of us sat around a small farm table and asked two important questions:

1. “What do we want from regional leaders to help grow and support the local food movement?”

2. “What will we do to grow and support the local food movement?”

Those questions turned into monthly discussions and those discussions turned into potlucks. Now after over a decade of community-building, and skillsharing around a common passion for local food and ecologicial agriculture, it is time to break out the Land & Table ‘family’ album – laugh, cry, and look at lessons learned along the way as we give thanks for all we’ve been given.

We also will be discussing our newly earned status as a 501c3 non-profit organization and the vision for working towards a thriving, resilient local food system in the Lynchburg, Virginia region, that will have long-lasting positive impacts for generations to come.

If you have been involved in Land & Table events at any time over the years please consider coming to share memories together. We’ve love for you to share what Land & Table has meant to you 🙂 If you are new to the L&T community, come and get a crash course on our history and our vision for community transformation: social, ecological, and economic – through local food.

L&T BOOK CLUB LAUNCH!
Our first book that we’ll be reading for the launch of the Land & Table Book Club is by self-professed ‘lunatic’ farmer Joel Salatin of Polyface Farm. Like all his books, ‘‘Folks This Ain’t Normal‘ is a thought provoking read. We’ll be reading it through December and then will discuss the book in our first meeting on Thursday, January 5th (7:00-8:30pm) at the Bedford Central public Library in the town of Bedford. Each L&T in-person Book Club meeting will take place the 1st Thursday of each month.

We will be exploring the basics of agroforestry and ecological farm design with a hands-on talking tour of the property.

 Mark and Allison, of Mountain Run Permaculture, are developing an integrative regenerative home and farm ecosystem with gardens, orchards, hedges and more, utilizing ecological design principles. We’ll explore the possibilities for integrating livestock into orchard systems using lightweight, inexpensive infrastructure. See how they utilize American Guinea Hogs and sheep to aide in orchard under-story establishment and maintenance, soil rehabilitation, and the synergy between trees, pasture and animals to produce a myriad of beneficial outcomes.
