The right farm tool can lighten your load, speed up your work, or make a seemingly impossible task feasible. But in our highly technological age, are bigger and better agricultural innovations really gaining us ground?

Appropriate technology prioritizes small-scale, affordable, decentralized, energy-efficient, low environmental impact, and locally autonomous tools. For the farmer, homesteader, and gardener, what are the tools for greater resilience? Maybe GPS-driven drones and autonomous tractors aren’t the future we’re looking for.

Join us on Tuesday, July 18 (6-8pm) at Great Day Gardens in Forest for the monthly Bedford Land & Table potluck. After we eat together we will have an open forum on farm tools and appropriate technology. Come ready to share about your favorite farm tool: anything from hand held tools like a scythe or stirrup hoe, to apple peeler-corers, DIY chicken pluckers, precision seeders, wheel hoes, movable electric fencing, and much more!
