Land & Table exists to cultivate connections in the Lynchburg regional foodshed. Our monthly potlucks are a time for community building, skillsharing, and much more.

Are you in or near Amherst County? Join us for this month’s Amherst Land & Table potluck and farm social on May 17 (5-7pm) at Brooklyn Hills Ranch. This will be a family friendly event with a focus on networking. Newcomers welcome!

Eating the organ meat of animals was the way our ancestors ate and in many countries today, like France, Italy, and Spain, is still common practice. Nose-to-tail eating is a philosophy that strives to let nothing go to waste and appreciates organ meat as nutrient dense and essential for robust human health. But how do you make these ‘odd bits’ not only palatable but enjoyable?

Join us for the final Land & Table Amherst potluck of the year on Saturday, November 16 (5-7pm) at Brooklyn Hills Ranch in Amherst County, Virginia. We will be discussing the benefits of eating organ meats like heart, liver, and more – and how to prepare for optimal health and enjoyment.

This will be a great time of networking, celebration, and learning. Don’t miss this final Amherst potluck of the year! Potlucks will resume in early Spring of 2025.

Are you interested in learning the basics of proper pruning of small fruit plantings on your farm or homestead for a bountiful and naturally healthy harvest?

Join us Saturday, March 2 (10am-2pm) at Laughing Fox Farm in Amherst County, VA, for an in-depth, hands-on ReSkill workshop with farmer Rosemary Urban as she walks you through the practical principles of small fruit pruning with a focus on: blackberries, raspberries, elderberries, mulberries, and blueberries.

Free lunch will be provided: venison stew/chili, cornbread, and drinks. Or bring your own if you have dietary restrictions.

WHAT TO BRING:
– If you have them, please bring bypass or lopper pruners
– Bring a notebook and pen, or some way to take good notes.
– Your questions!

COST:
$30 per person.

Livestock can have a big impact on the health of local waterways but is totally fencing creeks off really an ecological solution for both the water and the animals?

Medicinal mushrooms have been used for thousands of years to enhance and improve human health holistically. What if you could grow your own mushrooms instead of buying these treasured fungi?

Join us for the monthly Amherst Land & Table potluck at Brooklyn Hills Ranch on Saturday, April 15 (5-7pm). There will be a free hands-on demonstration on how to inoculate logs with mushroom spores (Reishi and Lion’s Mane) and each family will have the chance to take home their own inoculated log.
